File Transfer Protocol (FTP), is the most famous way to transfer website content to a web hosting account. Using FTP software that is pre-installed on your desktop or laptop computer, you can set up a connection to your hosting server and copy all of the website files that you need with a few mouse clicks. You can do this via a user-friendly GUI and it is as easy as dragging and dropping the files in question. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is that you’ll be able to set up several FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your web space, so if you’d like to grant someone access, for example – a web designer, they will be able to access only a particular folder and won’t be able to view the remaining web content or any other info, including personal details. Three prerequisites are needed to be able to establish an FTP connection – a hostname, which is normally an IP address or a domain name, a username and a password.
FTP Accounts in Cloud Hosting
Any of the cloud hosting packages that we offer will enable you to set up an unlimited number of FTP accounts, so you will be able to manage the content of your Internet sites separately or to give other persons access to any Internet site in your web hosting account. If you’ve got a web design application pre-installed on your home computer, you’ll be able to maintain numerous sites at once and to update them with no effort. In case you provide the login details to another person to do a given task, you will be able to update the password for that FTP account or to delete it altogether with only a couple of clicks of the mouse and avoid any risk of unsolicited access to your website content in the future. For the sake of convenience, all FTP accounts that you set up will be listed in alphabetical order in the corresponding section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
When you host your websites under a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a different FTP account for each of them, as we have not put a limit on this feature with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can do this via the FTP section of our simple-to-work-with Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the complete list of all the FTP accounts that you’ve created, along with the folder that each one of them can connect to. If necessary, you will be able to edit the password for a particular FTP account or to change its access path with a couple of clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account with no effort if you don’t require it anymore – for instance, if you’ve hired a designer who is done with the site and you don’t want them to connect to your files any longer. For the sake of convenience, we’ve prepared different how-to videos, which will help you administer your FTP accounts without efforts if you have never used a web hosting service before.
FTP Accounts in VPS
None of the Linux VPS packages offered by us has a limitation on the maximum number of FTP accounts that you can have at any given time, so you can create a separate account for each site hosted on the virtual server, regardless of whether it’s under a domain or sub-domain. Moreover, it doesn’t matter which hosting Control Panel you’ll select when you sign up – DirectAdmin, cPanel or Hepsia, since an FTP server will be set up on your virtual machine at the time of the configuration of any of them. If you want different users to connect to the exact same directory using their own login credentials, for example, it’ll take a few clicks to create an FTP account for each of them. Deleting an existing account or changing the folder that it can connect to is just as easy and you will not run into any difficulty, even if you lack prior experience in such matters.
